The Merry Gentleman

Overall Rating: 3 Golden Rings

Worth watching: Yes - But only once…or when you are looking to heat up a cold December night

Chemistry: We could have renamed this move to “Chad Michael Murray Smoldering and being a Drama Queen”, so the chemistry didn’t feel authentic.

Smooch Quality: Awkward at first, but almost fitting because it showed she was a little nervous to kiss him.

Plot According to Julie: Britt Robertson is a shorter-than-expected variation of a Rockette who gets let go in the middle of the Holiday season despite being front and center on all promotional materials, seemingly going from the prima ballerina in this dance company to unemployed. She goes back to her small hometown where her parent’s venue / bar is about to go under. In an attempt to (say it with me) save the family business, she recruits the help of a few local hotties to perform a Magic Mike-like show to help raise money for the venue. They surprisingly learn new choreography almost daily, I’m assuming because their audience pool is fully saturated in this very small market and they need to freshen up the content to drive ticket sales. Truthfully, I would be going every night if I lived in this town.

Review (Spoilers): The pacing of this movie was uneven. It was clear they wanted to maximize the shirtless man screen time, but that left very little left for conflict and subsequent resolution, which was honestly fine with me. It cracked me up that Chad Michael Murray’s character was so one dimensional until the conflict and then he turned into a total drama queen for one second. I guess it’s more accurate to say the pacing and dynamics of this movie were uneven, but if you just focus on the shirtless men it’s easy to ignore the criticisms.
